Mid-City was proud to be named the electrical contractor for the AEP Transmission Project in New Albany, Ohio. At this new construction site, Mid-City electricians worked alongside the project team to create a 196,000 square-foot, two-wing office space to accommodate 650 cubicles and 50 offices. The new space, which will pursue LEED Certification, now provides its 700 employees a variety of impressive amenities, including a full-service cafeteria, gym, locker room, and car charging stations, as well as a conference center, several break rooms, and meeting space.
As the project’s electrical and teledata contractor, Mid-City’s scope of work included all site work, power, lighting, fire alarm, data and security rough-in, and temperature control wiring. The energy-saving lighting system will support the owner’s goal of achieving LEED certification, as lighting is controlled by the amount of natural light that the building receives, allowing the occupants to use less energy during peak sunlight hours. It’s a truly sophisticated system. The Mid-City team also installed vehicle charging stations, which will also work towards their LEED initiative.
While cold and muddy spring and winter weather, as well as a two-month acceleration in the project schedule, presented challenges, the project was complete on time and within budget in August 2016.
